A caterpillar-like creature with large teeth, tank tracks and bulldozer hands; Lepidoptera eats everything in its path as it bulldozes its way through.
Made from the bilge pump from an old Murray River paddle steamer, Lepidoptera is a great example of Transmogrification (title of my 2013 solo show) and the preservation of a piece of history. The pump was beyond restoration but too good for the scrap yard; it now lives on, Transmogrified into a kinetic sculpture, perhaps living longer as a sculpture than it would have done in its original function.
